Analyze JPEG, PNG and WebP container metadata locally, choose the narrowest useful cleaning mode, and keep encoded image and animation payloads intact.
Cleaning mode
- Sensitive data: Remove GPS, device identity, dates, author and copyright fields, comments, descriptions and common private metadata. Keep C2PA, JUMBF, display color and density data.
- AI provenance: Remove detected C2PA, JUMBF and common prompt or workflow metadata. PNG compressed text is removed conservatively without decompression. Keep unrelated EXIF, IPTC, comments, color profiles and density data.
- All removable metadata: Remove every safely removable metadata item, including color and density information where possible, while retaining encoded image and animation payloads.

Encoded pixels and animation stay intact
JPEG scan data, PNG IDAT and animation chunks, and WebP image and animation chunks are retained byte-for-byte. Malformed or truncated containers are rejected instead of being re-encoded or silently flattened.
Honest AI metadata limits
Metadata cleaning does not remove SynthID, latent watermarks or pixel fingerprints. Unknown or encrypted AI markers are not guaranteed to be detected. Deleting C2PA or JUMBF data removes or invalidates that provenance record.

FAQ
Are my images uploaded to a server?
No. No selected image bytes are sent to ImageConvert servers. Analysis, cleaning and download preparation run locally in your browser.
Which files can I clean here?
The cleaner validates true JPEG, PNG and WebP container signatures, including JPG, JPEG and JFIF filename variants. Malformed, truncated and unsupported containers are rejected.
Can metadata cleaning remove SynthID?
No. It does not remove SynthID, latent watermarks, pixel fingerprints or other marks embedded in image pixels. Unknown or encrypted AI markers are not guaranteed to be detected.
What happens to C2PA provenance?
Removing C2PA or JUMBF data deletes or invalidates that provenance record. AI provenance mode retains unrelated EXIF, IPTC, comments, color and density data when it is not AI-bearing.
